7 Pieces of Job Advice

One of the greatest moments in my life was becoming the first college graduate in my family.

But once the celebrations are over, if you don’t have any current job opportunities lined up, you might find this blog on 7 Pieces of Job Advice helpful.

Today’s job market is very challenging, so you need to use different job search strategies. These include:

  • Building an online presence by creating a LinkedIn profile and using social media professionally
  • Creating a website to promote your personal brand
  • Networking through meetup.com

Also, be sure to stay in touch with your classmates and continue to collaborate with others as often as possible!

  1. Hey Rebecca,
You and I have been friends for quite some time now, I think about 10 years! Even though we have never met, you have always been an inspiration to me. You are a positive, vibrant woman! I remember when we first “met” and you helped me with one of my school papers. You read my paper and gave me some great suggestions. You didn’t have to do that, but you went out of your way to help a stranger (me) and I will always be thankful for that.
I have also seen you achieve tremendous health, which is always a great feeling. I admire your endurance and strength. I wish you success in all your future endeavors. Namaste.

P.S. Thank you for the kind words you left on my blog!

  2. I have found that college is a huge responsibility that, if one is not prepared, especially in thinking that it’s a piece of cake to find work in your field, can lead to disappointment. It’s easy to get discouraged, but planning ahead is always a good idea!

    • Thank you, Heather!

Your comment brings up some wonderful points — and I especially appreciate your mentioning the importance of recognizing and then taking personal responsibility for your choices and outcomes.

I will keep that in mind while I’m expanding the Utilize and Self-Reflection sections of this blog.

      :o)

      • I don’t know if you remember, but I went back to college in 2012, made the Dean’s List that summer despite being laid up in bed for 2 solid weeks with a herniated disc and 2 pinched nerves. I was a wreck, but was determined to do well. I was unable to continue the next semester because I re-injured my neck and spent the next year going from doctor to doctor trying to get the right combination of meds just so I could function. Even my chiropractor said my back was really, really messed up. My doctor finally got my meds right and I can now function and am going back to school in the Fall to get my AAS in Commercial Art. And it’s all because I constantly remind myself of a quote by Wayne Dyer in which he said something along the lines of “It doesn’t matter when you start or when you finish your education, just as long as you do it and give it your all. Oh, and thank goodness for Yoga !
